NOTE TO SCIENCE: THE UNIVERSE IS UNKNOWN For those writing articles, headlines, essays and press releases regarding the scientific knowledge base of man and claiming to present from a place of scientific authority, you are on notice. Do not refer to the ‘universe’ as if you know it. You cannot know it, and chances are you never will. For all purposes, your understanding is limited to the ‘known universe’. Regardless of your space telescopes, your computer modeling and your mathematical calculations, there is a hard limit to your perception and comprehension, and that limit is always defined by the extent of your current knowledge. The universe is finally, unknowable, as you are (until proven otherwise) finite creatures, with a finite scope of information availability. This does not preclude you from your admirable and inspiring attempts to gain more knowledge, and that pursuit is the highest achievement on its own.
